Questions, bug reports or feature requests: use the support form. Please include your phone model, system version and NFC Lab version (More → About), and the tag type if it is about a tag.
My tag is not detected. Hold the top edge of the phone flat against the tag and keep it still for a second or two; metal surfaces and thick cases can block the signal. Reading tags needs a phone with an NFC reader.
It says my card is not supported. If the card is a MIFARE Classic (many hotel keys, gym fobs and older transit cards), a phone does not allow any app to read it, and may not detect it at all, so a scan can simply time out. It also cannot read payment cards or most access-control cards, FeliCa cards are not detected, and it does not clone cards.
A write failed or says it did not verify. Hold the tag steady until the sheet closes, and check that the content fits the tag (the size meter turns red if it does not). A tag that is locked read-only cannot be changed, and a lock is permanent.
Can I undo "Lock read-only"? No. Locking is permanent on the tag itself, which is why the app asks twice. Use a tag you do not need to reuse.
Which tags work? Tags that hold NDEF data and that a phone's NFC reader supports. NTAG213, NTAG215, NTAG216 and MIFARE Ultralight tags are the main targets for reading, writing and the memory dump. Other tags may be identified but not editable. A tested-chip list will be added once testing on real tags is complete.
Can I use it on a tablet? No. NFC Lab is a phone app.
NFC Lab collects no data and has no network access. Read the full privacy policy.
