Read, write and verify NFC tags on your phone, then open the Lab: a memory map, a raw command console, snapshots, NTAG password and dynamic-URL settings and a tap-quality test. $6.99 once. No subscription, no ads, no accounts, and no network access.
$6.99, once. No subscription.
The supported-chip list will be published here once testing on real tags is complete.
Needs a phone that can read NFC tags.
Shows the tag family (Ultralight and NTAG, DESFire, ISO 15693, NDEF Type 4 cards), chip, UID, memory size, NDEF capacity and whether the tag is writable or read-only, with a plain-language note when a tag is not supported.
URLs, text, Wi-Fi, contacts (vCard), phone numbers, SMS, email, locations, app links, automation links, MIME and external records, parsed, with a raw hex and ASCII view of each record.
Page-by-page memory dump for NTAG and MIFARE Ultralight tags, with a hex view and export.
A record builder for twelve record types, several records per tag, with a live meter against NTAG213, NTAG215 or NTAG216, so you know it fits before you hold the tag to the phone.
Scan a tag, tap Edit & write back, change one record and write it back. No retyping the rest.
After every write the app reads the tag back and compares it. You get a clear verified or failed result.
Erase a tag and check it. Lock a tag read-only: permanent, so you must tick a box, type LOCK and hold the tag again.
Send the same payload to a run of tags with a counter, or batch write from a CSV with one row per tag.
Save scans and templates on your device, in folders, with labels and search, plus five built-in templates. Import and export JSON and CSV.
Five actions: Scan NFC Tag, Read URL from NFC Tag, Write Text to NFC Tag, Write URL to NFC Tag and Write Wi-Fi to NFC Tag. Each opens the app to run the NFC session, and the writes are checked by reading back.
Reading and writing tags needs the NFC reader in a phone, so NFC Lab is a phone app.
No accounts, no analytics, no ads and no network entitlement at all. Your tags and library stay on your device. One purchase, no subscription.
The Lab is for people who want to see inside a tag. Anything that changes a tag shows what it will write and asks first; details not yet checked on real tags are marked Unverified in the app.
Every page of an NTAG or Ultralight tag, colour coded by what it is for, with a risk rating. Edit a page by hand behind warnings, a confirmation and a read-back check.
Send your own commands to NTAG and ISO 15693 tags. Every command is rated before it goes out, dangerous ones need a second confirmation, answers are explained in plain language, and you can share a transcript.
System information, a block viewer and lock status for ICODE-style tags. Read only.
Tests the NXP signature on NTAG213, NTAG215 and NTAG216. Honest limits: the built-in key is not yet confirmed against an NXP source, so results are worded carefully, and a pass does not prove a tag is not a clone.
Offline cheat sheets for common NTAG, Ultralight and ICODE chips, with anything unverified marked.
Save a complete copy of a tag's memory, compare any two snapshots or a snapshot and a tag page by page, and restore one onto a tag of the same type after a dry-run of exactly what will change.
Set or remove a password on an NTAG213, 215 or 216, turn on the read counter, and write dynamic URLs that carry the tag's UID and a read counter. Risky settings need you to type I UNDERSTAND. The bit positions are marked Unverified until tested on real tags.
Reads a tag repeatedly, gives a verdict and ranks the spots on your phone from best to worst.
Paste hex, Base64, an NDEF message, a vCard or a Wi-Fi QR string and see what it means, offline.
Keep notes about your tags and share a tag report as Markdown, text or PDF.
A phone can read and write NDEF on most tags, and reach raw memory on NTAG and MIFARE Ultralight tags. It cannot read MIFARE Classic, the chip in many hotel keys, gym fobs and older transit cards, and no phone app can, whatever its listing says. The phone may not detect such a card at all, in which case a scan simply times out. It does not clone cards, change a tag's UID, emulate a tag or sniff other readers, and it does not work with every tag.
